Red Sox Invite Jason Collins to Fenway

On Monday, NBA player Jason Collins came out as gay, and by doing so, made himself the first active openly homosexual male athlete in any of the four major American team sports.

The Boston Red Sox noticed…inviting the onetime Boston Celtics center (Collins donned the green and white earlier this season) to Fenway Park to throw out the first pitch at an upcoming game.

Interestingly enough, it is the Red Sox who are widely regarded as having been the last Major League team to have integrated.  So, um…progress?
