Mr. Cub Greets Pearl Jam Faithful

Just seven songs into what was expected to be an epic 40-song set Friday night at Wrigley Field, the threat of high winds and lightning left Pearl Jam fans scrambling for cover.

But, for those that stayed through the nearly three-hour rain delay…they were greeted by none other than “Mr. Cub” himself Ernie Banks.

Oh, and the song that Eddie Vedder (clad in a Jose Cardenal Chicago Cubs jersey) and the troops came out to just before midnight following the suspension of play?  None other than his Cubs tribute “All the Way”.

Seems fitting.

About Shawn Anderson

Shawn is that guy who instead of sitting there talking about the game going on around him is talking wise about the history of baseball. He believes baseball figures such as Tommy John, Harold Baines, Ron Guidry and Billy Martin deserve their own plaque somewhere if not in Cooperstown and fondly remembers the time he saw Rickey Henderson walking into a hotel with a woman on each arm following a Yankees game.
